Lawn mowing is in full swing now, with regular weekly cuts recommended. It’s always best to remove ‘little and often’ where possible.

Keep tubs, hanging baskets and troughs well watered. Use collected rainwater from butts wherever possible.

Newly laid turf and all other lawns should be watered well in hot spells... one square metre of lawn can lose up to 20 litres or 4.5 gallons of water per week!

Continue deadheading of shrubs such as roses, this helps extend flowering into early autumn.

Prune Wisteria and Pyracantha after they have flowered.

Hebes and Lavenders can be given a light prune after flowering.

Use a selective weedkiller to treat weeds in lawns as it won’t kill the grass.

Autumn...

Autumn.
